Eco-loft are loft boarding specialists. The flooring of your loft and its structure is one of the most important parts of your loft boarding project. We have different flooring options based around the type of loft conversion you are looking for. Generally if you are interested in some extra storage in your home and would like to spend as little as possible in order to achieve this – our standard package will most likely be perfect for you.

Your loft boarding options

Each project may be slightly different but we can generally say your flooring options will fall into one of 4 categories.

Cross braced subnetwork – this is the easiest and cheapest method by means of spanning on the internal and external walls working off the trade table using either graded timber of various sizes or c section galvanised steel beams.

Hung floor this method is generally for habitable conversions and comprises of inserting steel I beams onto pad stones that are picketed out of the internal walls and after bolting on a wall plate we then hang the timbers between the 2 joists creating a independent floor.

We bolt a timber wall plate to a internal party wall in the loft then like method 2 we fix joist hangers and span graded timber joists off the wall plate to a another wall plate on the other side, again mostly used in habitable conversions but sometimes used to future proof any further projects.

Loft zone flooring A unique raised loft floor designed to provide safe loft storage, safe access, and protection of loft insulation.

The installed system reduces heating bills by saving energy and cutting co2 emissios.
The LoftZone StoreFloor forms a raised adjustable beam that goes across the joists. This allows for variations in joist spacing but also works precisely with standard 1,220mm loft boards and standard 600mm wide insulation rolls.

Spacing between joists varies considerably making it impossible for a non-adjustable system to work safely. The LoftZone StoreFloor Raised Loft Floor works in all types of lofts – Trussed roofs with 600mm joist spacing and cut roofs with 400mm joist spacing.
